Sentence not clear
[edit]The sentence "Some oxidation reactions, such as those involving monoamine oxidase or xanthine oxidase, typically do not involve free molecular oxygen." is not clear. I don't know what the author intended to say, but I read it as monoamine oxidase and xanthine oxidase do not require Oxygen (O2) to function, which clearly is not true. Definition Ambiguities
[edit]It seems that this term has evolved over time. From what I can find, it originally meant “any oxidoreductase”, but over time it has come to (roughly) mean oxidoreductases involving dioxygen.
In particular, I don’t think it’s the case that Cytochrome P450 are all considered oxidases anymore. So I’m going to qualify the statement in the article to most, and remove the EC link which appears out of date Pabnau (talk) 19:14, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
