'Ovary-arm' transplant a success

[edit]In the Function section, Gamete production subsection: "[After ovulation, t]he follicle remains functional and reorganizes into a corpus luteum..." I wouldn't describe the CHANGES in function and structure as "remaining functional". There are big changes in function (obviously, since (arguably) the follicle's main function has been fulfilled upon oocyte release). I've forgotten my endocrinology, but doesn't Estrogen production ...diminish?...and Progesterone production increases enormously. (or begins?). Claiming this is "remaining functional" is misleading and inaccurate.
- On another note, the lead fails to state that the article itself is mostly about the human ovary. It also fails to place the ovaries in the context of eukaryotic life (or vertebrate life, or mammalian life...). Perhaps it doesn't belong in the lead, but it certainly shouldn't be put off until an obviously appended section titled "Other Animals". I also find it pointedly disappointing that there is zero mention of plant ovaries - they may be the first ovary mentioned to the school child. There's not even a reference to the WP article Ovary (botany) here!~2026-92463-4 (talk) 11:39, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
