@Surtsicna: This page has been at Otto II, Count of Burgundy, Otto I, Duke of Merania and now Otto VII of Andechs. The last is certainly not a straightfoward application of NCROY. Srnec (talk) 21:06, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

'Otto I Duke of Merania' and similar (Meranien, Meran) are not uncommon and the title is higher and, to me, more recognizable. Srnec (talk) 00:34, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

"Otto VII of Andechs" appears to be more common, but "Otto I of Merania" at least is not completely unknown. I do not think that we are obligated to use the higher title (see Charles I of Anjou for an interesting example). If we are going with Merania, perhaps we ought to consider Otto III of Burgundy as well. And of course drop the "duke" part. Surtsicna (talk) 22:15, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

I opposed moving Charles I of Naples. I support moving Otto III of Burgundy. I think 'Otto I of Merania' is more recognizable to more people than 'Otto VII of Andechs'. Srnec (talk) 22:44, 16 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
