• Orval Hansen: Hansen was overwhelmingly known as "Orval Hansen," not "Orval H. Hansen." A Newspapers.com search in Idaho from 1956 to 2017 (from when he entered public life to when he died) shows 10,173 results for "Orval Hansen" and only 51 results for "Orval H. Hansen."
• Harold L. Ryan: Ryan was overwhelmingly known as "Harold L. Ryan" or "Harold Ryan," not "Harold Lyman Ryan." A Newspapers.com search in Idaho from 1950 to 1995 (from when he entered public life to when he died) shows just 6 results for "Harold Lyman Ryan." While he appears to have been known far more as "Harold Ryan" (4,926 results, though some of them could be over-inclusive) than "Harold L. Ryan" (837 results), the existence of Harold M. Ryan, a politician and judge from Michigan, makes "Harold L. Ryan" a better name.
