The description of the start of the kosher certification division is way late. Per http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Soc/soc.culture.canada/2006-03/msg00112.html the kosher division started in 1923. This needs cleanup Dovid (talk) 07:40, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Peanut Corporation of America (PCA)

The Peanut Corporation of America was a peanut-processing business that went bankrupt in 2009 after being implicated in a salmonella poisoning incident. The OU has come in for criticism because it had had certified the company.

On Either Side of the Border

This appears to be a minor day-to-day news item. It wasn't a major news story. Doesn't appear appropriate to the introduction to a 100+ year old organization. Not every item of criticism is relevant. In July, 2009, a pamphlet called "On Either Side of the Border" was distributed to Israel Defense Force (IDF) soldiers. The booklet quotes "a Hezbollah officer who spied for Israel," claiming that the Vatican taught Hezbollah members to how to wipe out Jews, and "every real Arab, deep inside, is kind of a fan of the Nazis". When alerted to its nature, the IDF halted distribution. The Orthodox Union apologized, repudiated the booklet, stated that it "...was made by staff at the OU’s Israel branch office, and was never ... approved," and took steps to prevent recurrence.

In early November 2007 there wasn't even a REFERENCES section. From a few edits later until May 2018, over a decade, the date was unchanged, and there were 16 references added, including NYTimes, JTA, Washington Post, The Forward. At this point, although more references are needed, there is no basis for the 2018 date. Pi314m (talk) 23:48, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
