I think "oremus" is also a name for a particular prayer position with hands up in the air, perhaps, rather than the usual "palms together". Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Is it even true? 74.128.225.108 (talk) 01:05, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

It seems you mean Orans? This has the same word stem ora-, but it is a different form: oremus is the first person plural subjunctive present active (= we shall pray, let us pray), orans is the present participle active (= praying). --78.49.132.210 (talk) 21:44, 4 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

From my experience in the Catholic Church in Germany, the "oremus" always means that the congregation should rise - with the one exception immediately before consecration where you stay seated and only stand up after the prayer when the consecration begins.
