Proposed rephrase of introduction:
"is a non-linear optical process that consists of the generation of a quasi-DC polarization in a non-linear medium at the passage of an intense optical beam." confused two of us that it was a "DC polarization" of some EM field. Somehow.

- Sure. It's unfortunate that polarization has those two very different meanings in electromagnetism. If you write it as "material polarization" then that's clearer. "Dielectric polarization" is another option. --Steve (talk) 00:21, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
