In a birefringent crystal, the crystal axis is also sometimes called the optical axis of the crystal.

Crystal axis or more commonly crystallographic axis and optical axis are very different things. Optical axis in birefringent crystals needs separate article. Siim 20:40, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
