Ranch hand, Trail dust, Hades

[edit]

Is this entry going to cover all three of these topics? If they are to be all linked here, then I think that there needs to be a distinction. They are not synonymous.Johnvr4 (talk) 20:15, 17 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hades isn't a subject, it is a call sign. The article misstates its use as the exclusive call sign for Ranch Hand. Until 1967, C-123s of the 315th Air Commando Wing used the call sign "Provide" except for the 309th Air Commando Squadron SASF, then the 12th Air Commando Squadron, which used the call sign "Cowboy." In 1967, it was decided the 315th wing would use call signs from the VCSL and "Hades" was adopted for the entire 315th wing. When the first C-123Ks arrived in 1967, they were assigned the call sign "Bookie" and "Hades" was used by C-123Bs. "Hades" as an exclusive call sign for Ranch Hand had to start some time after September 1967.
Trail Dust currently redirects to this article. --Lineagegeek (talk) 21:54, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
