Errors?

[edit]

According to Wheeler, Manhattan ran from 23 April to 10 May, and the CMH source backs up a three week operation as well. I also don't see any record of the 25th ID taking part. Wheeler has the 3d Bde, 1st ID and two squadrons from the 11th ACR. I'm going to do some more checking, but the initial identification of the 4th ID being involved is incorrect (unless there was some kind of small continuing operation into June). I looked at the linked AAR, and I see where the confusion comes from. The 25th ID took part in a continuation operation after IIFFV ended Manhattan on 11 May. I can't find any RS indicating the 25th ID (let alone the brigade of the 4th ID) took part in the IIFFV operation. So the article has issues. Intothatdarkness 15:12, 25 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Beyond Repair?

[edit]

I'm not sure if this article is salvageable without a significant amount of OR. The operation was small enough it's barely covered in RS, and what's there focuses mainly on the II FFV portion (involving the 1st ID and elements of the 11th ACR). Some do, however, mention the 25th ID but then don't mention the first part. I've taken a stab at untangling it, but I don't know if there's much more that can be done with available RS. Important AARs and ORLLs don't seem to be available online, either. As near as I can determine, most RS mention the first part of the operation because of the significant weapons capture.
