Merge?

[edit]

The article was changed to a redirect. I reopened the article and added some links. In an attempt to gain consensus by other editors please discuss this here, thanks. 96.242.88.25 (talk) 18:00, 21 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • The article is supported by a single source. All of this could just be merged into the 1980s section on the Redskins article. If you want to start a proper AfD, then go ahead, but I don't see any way this stays. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 03:01, 22 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
I added sources and links. I see You redirected the article again but I advise you allow other editors to discuss it here and see if they agree to your idea if merging to the Redskins main article. 96.242.88.25 (talk) 07:50, 22 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
I still disagree with the important of this having its own article, so I'm going to take this to AfD. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 07:59, 22 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Preparations

[edit]

"They particularly focused on the much-anticipated December 15 game between the Redskins and the Bengals, the winner of which would determine who would go to the playoffs."

The Washington Redskins did not make the playoffs despite winning this game. They lost in a tiebreaker to the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers based on the conference record tiebreaker. Perhaps change this to "because both teams were in playoff contention" or the "loser would have been eliminated from playoff contention"? 69.244.64.137 (talk) 18:43, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Even the fact that the game had playoff implications for both teams would not have been known until all of the prior week's games were complete. Since they obviously did not conceive of the police operation from start to finish in a six-day window, I think the whole bit about that particular game being special should be excised. The Bengals game was actually the least attended Washington home game in the 1985 season, by the way. Predestiprestidigitation (talk) 06:24, 20 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
