Minor appearances

The Ood have a minor appearance in a montage sequence in "Human Nature" when Timothy opens the fob watch. Worth noting? Absurdtrousers (talk) 13:31, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

A Good Man Goes to War

Does anyone have a source for the Ood Sigma scene being cut? Babelcolour5 (talk) 14:13, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Resemblance to Cthulhu.

Has no-one else noticed how much the Ood resemble Cthulhu? Could the idea for this have been derived from Cthulhu and if so, should that be noted on this page someplace? Even more than that, complete with their human size and telepathic powers, they resemble Illithids (aka mind flayers) from Dungeons & Dragons. But without reliable sources indicating they are inspired by them (not just a message board can let noticing their similarities to either Chutulu or Illithids), it's too trivial to mention. oknazevad (talk) 02:41, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

• The grammar seems to be flawless. I'm glad to be able to review an article with good grammar.
• The lead is a sufficient length and touches on all the sections, although there does seem to be a disproportionately small amount of commentary on the Analysis section. Maybe make that sentence a small paragraph, and you're good on 1A and 1B.

• The whole block on the enslavement of the Ood, which seems to be one of the most important in the article, only cites a single source.

There are plenty of cases with articles where they rely on larger sources, especially in cases of smaller topics such as this, and to my knowledge there is no policy against it. I think a paragraph like The Ood have been the subject of analysis by various sources. Parallels between the in-universe treatment of the Ood and real-world instances of slavery and exploitation, in particular, have been a topic of significant discussion. In addition, some say that the Ood are demonized and given the othering treatment not because of any wrongdoing on their part, but rather due to their different preferences and priorities as a culture. It gives a lot of weight to these sources, I know, but it is merited when so much of the article is dedicated to such analysis. I think that this paragraph treats all the analyzers equally. Changes in latest copyedit

Hello! I wanted to stop leaving messages on our talk pages about the article. I reviewed your copyedit and found a few sentences where I would like to bring back the Em dashes (though not for all).

• tricks Halpen into drinking—under the guise of hair tonic—a liquid that turns Halpen into an Ood. The em dashes here are a substitute not for commas, but parantheses, which are generally not used in high-class articles
• those who own them, with scanners in one story bring back the redlink, as the reader does not know what scanners are, correct? I didn't.
• Despite some plans to bring the Ood back for the 2007 episode "42"—which would have seen a group of Ood stored away in a ship's cargo hold for black market sale—the Ood did not re-appear until the 2008 episode "Planet of the Ood". The em dashes flow nicer here, I think, than commas.
