Comments

• First, let us start with some general comments.
• Overall, the standard of the article is very high.
• It is of reasonable length, with 2,595 words of readable prose.
• The lead is reasonably short at 164 words and could be expanded without the article becoming unbalanced.
• Authorship is 100% from the nominator with a single contribution from one other editor.
• GPTZero states that the lead is likely to be human with some AI help while it is highly confident that the body of the text is entirely human.
• It is currently assessed as a B class article.
• There are some duplicate links, including Itsekiri and the author Osarhieme Benson Osadolor.
• Although not a GA criteria, suggest adding an image to the article.

Criteria

The six good article criteria:

1. It is reasonable well written.

   the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct;

   • The writing is clear and appropriate.
   • I can see no obvious spelling or grammar errors.

   it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead, layout and word choice.

   • It seems to comply with the Manuals of Style.

2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.

   it contains a reference section, presented in accordance with the layout style guideline;

   • A reference section is included, with sources listed.

   all inline citations are from reliable sources;

   • Sources are mainly books published by reputable publishers. There is a single unpublished source, Osadolor's doctoral thesis on the topic from the University of Hamburg. Reading this piece of academic research, it also seems reliable.

   it contains no original research;

   • All relevant statements have inline citations.
   • There are quite a few instances where the same source is cited for subsequent statements. This is unnecessary. For example, suggest removing the citation at the end of the sentence "Uke replied that Olua had given him the bead only because such objects were plentiful in the palace." as the subsequent sentences are also referenced from Egharevba.
   • Spot checks:
     • 1d Egharevba, pp. 20–21 confirms the anecdote.
     • 2a and 2f Osadolor, p. 98 states his death is circa 1478.
     • 2d Osadolor says he was freeborn on page 97.
     • 4g Egharevba, p. 20 confirms the request.
     • 6g Ryder, p. 116 confirms the claim.
     • 6h Ryder, p. 116 confirms the name and other claims.
     • 7c Talbot, p. 155 says there was "no war". The contrast with the following entry for Ozolua is stark.
     • 10 Egharevba, p. 9 calls it the Uzama Nihinron. Is Nihinron a superfluous descriptor?
     • 12c Ikime, p. 90 confirms the claim.
     • 17 Ryder p. 13 confirms the claims.
     • 19h Egharevba, p. 22 confirms the claim.

   it contains no copyright violations nor plagiarism;

   • Earwig gives a 13.8% chance of copyright violation with no substantive issues noted.

3. It is broad in its coverage

   it addresses the main aspects of the topic.

   • The article gives a thorough overview of his life and achievement.

   it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).

   • The article has an appropriate level of detail.

4. It has a neutral point of view.

   it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to different points of view.

   • The article seems generally balanced, including different scholarly perspectives where appropriate, such as the dates of his reign.
   • There are a relatively small number of sources. Do those listed in further reading offer useful perspectives?
   • The mention of the authors of the different perspectives is good as it balances the risk of equal weighting all sources, when newer sources may have more nuanced or based on more recent discoveries.

5. It is stable.

   it does not change significantly from day to day because of any ongoing edit war or content dispute.

   • There is no evidence of edit wars.

6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.

   images are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid fair use rationales are provided for non-free content;

   • There are no images.

   images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.

   • As above.

@Simongraham Thank you for your comments and thorough review. I have tended to them. I don’t really rely on GPTZero anymore really since the day I typed a manuscript on my MS Word, pasted it for the tool, only for it to flag my text as AI-assisted. That’s by the way, yeah, I plan on looking for some images to add since I’ll need them at FAC anyway. For the Further reading, they do not really provide new facts, so I just kept them there. (If you observe any embarrassing typo, pardon me, I’m on mobile and I’m usually very blind when using mobile, bahaha). Vanderwaalforces (talk) 20:20, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
