Primary language Swedish, but he was active in German and Danish too, maybe Norwegian as well. It was a time when literature and art in the Nordic languages were much closer in collusion than they would be in the 20th century; when Ibsen, Strindberg and many others were read all around Scandinavia - and also when the new Nordic literature carried high regard in Germany, the new great power. That's why it was natural for Hansson and Strindberg to move to Berlin when they felt holed up and unable to survive as writers in Sweden - and even to start writing in German (Hansson; Strindberg chose to move on to Paris and write in French for a few years instead)Strausszek (talk) 20:34, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
