Plot notes question

The last paragraph of "Synopsis" says "...McQueen, who is trying to escape from the police after an ill-advised bank robbery...". but I believe it was an office in a mill that was robbed, not a bank. (Based on viewing of TCM showing, 28 Nov 2007) -jiw

I saw a restored print of it last night, and it was indeed a mill they robbed and not a bank. They refer to it as a mill, and the work room of the Mill is visible from the office they rob. DasKreestof (talk) 17:08, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Accents

Maureen Delany vs Delaney

Odd Man Out opening credits list the actor as “Delaney”, but the Wikipedia entry for the actor is spelled with only a “y”. Mredance (talk) 20:35, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

The ending

I have always understood that the two shots fired by Kathleen were not aimed at the police but to kill first Johnny and then herself. She had said previously that she did not want to see him tried for murder and hanged and this was her way of saving him from that fate. Plus, she did not want to live without him. I don't believe that she was foolish enough to think that she could hold off the police and get the wounded Johnny away; for her, their deaths in each other's arms was a better solution. ~2026-27451-00 (talk) 15:40, 6 May 2026 (UTC)

This was originally part of the plot, 'She then draws a gun and fires twice at nothing, forcing the police to return fire (thanks to their 'two shots fired' rule) killing them both.' It explains why she fires twice at nowt. Some most helpful editor removed it changing the nature of the action. Halbared (talk) 16:22, 6 May 2026 (UTC)

Per MOS:LOGICAL, it depends on whether or not the terminal punctuation was in the original material, as quoted. I don't have access to the sources, but the quotes read as they could be the end of sentences, and so concluded with a full stop. Masato.harada (talk) 08:41, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
