Is it /ɒkˈtæləsɪs/ or /ˌɒktəˈlaɪsɪs/? Could someone who knows put one of those two in the lead sentence? Thanks! KDS4444Talk 07:11, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Criticisms
[edit]I have some concerns over the citations provided for criticisms-- as no actual quotes are given, and as the word "octalysis" does not appear in the titles of the works cited, I am wondering if these are actually directed at octalysis or if they are in fact directed at gamification and its frameworks. Neither exists in a form that is easily and directly accessible via a URL link, so I cannot check either. Could someone with access to these works provide some quote that specifically addresses octalysis? Thanks for that, too. KDS4444Talk 07:19, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
The right brain cannot be said to "have drives". All drives involve both hemispheres. The right brain provides context and meaning. See The Master and His Emissary — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carusus (talk • contribs) 13:01, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Request: Add mention of The Octalysis Group (COI disclosure)
[edit]Conflict of interest disclosure: I am affiliated with The Octalysis Group, the commercial consulting firm founded by Yu-kai Chou that applies the Octalysis Framework. I am disclosing this per WP:COI and requesting that a neutral editor evaluate and implement the following change.
Proposed addition to the introduction, immediately after the opening sentence:
"The framework is applied commercially through The Octalysis Group, a behavioral design consultancy founded by Chou that has worked with over 175 clients including Microsoft, LEGO, and Salesforce."
Rationale: The article currently does not mention the commercial entity that operates and applies the framework. This is a factual gap. The Octalysis Group is verifiable and directly related to the subject of this article. I welcome any neutral editor assessment. ~2026-17504-32 (talk) 08:12, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
Proposed additions various sections
[edit]--- Conflict of interest disclosure: I am connected to The Octalysis Group. I am requesting that uninvolved editors review the following proposed additions. All claims are sourced to independent, peer-reviewed academic papers or existing Wikipedia articles.
Proposed addition 1: Expand the "applications" sentence Current text: Other global companies that have used or been inspired by the Octalysis Framework include IDEO, Google, LEGO, Volkswagen, and Huawei.
Proposed replacement: The framework has been applied and studied across multiple domains including healthcare and mHealth, e-commerce, education and e-learning, primary school teaching, quality management systems (mapped to ISO 10018), elderly care, and employee green behavior in organizations. Companies that have used or been inspired by the framework include IDEO, Google, Samsung, Salesforce, Microsoft, LEGO, Volkswagen, and Huawei.
Proposed addition 2: New section "Academic reception" A 2023 bibliometric analysis published in Humanities and Social Sciences Communications (Nature) analyzed the framework's adoption in training research, finding growing academic interest across multiple disciplines. The framework has been mapped to the ISO 10018 quality management standard. As of 2023, the framework has been referenced in over 3,900 academic papers on Google Scholar.
Peer-reviewed studies have applied the framework to analyze engagement in stress management apps, e-commerce platforms, and primary education.
Proposed addition 3: Reference to The Octalysis Group The primary consultancy implementing the framework commercially is The Octalysis Group, co-founded by Yu-kai Chou and Joris Beerda in 2016. (Source: Wikipedia article on Yu-kai Chou, which states: "Co-Founder (with CEO Joris Beerda) of the consultancy The Octalysis Group.")
