Notability / Deletion proposal rebuttal

[edit]

A contributor placed a deletion proposal on this article, stating that this law firm lacks notability, and citing a Google search that yielded only 277 hits. However, a search on the abbreviated law firm name "Oblon Spivak" (noted in the article) yields a more substantial 122,000 articles. In addition, this law firm is especially notable (in the field of patent law at least) because of its central role in the Festo v. Shoketsu decision issued by the US Supreme Court, among other reasons.

Furthermore, Oblon Spivak is the subject of multiple legitimate articles in intellectual property law trade rags, such as "Intellectual Property Today," and is cited as the number one US law firm (in terms of the number of issued patents obtained for clients) for several of the past few calender years (see this Intellectual Property Today magazine article. Therefore, because this law firm is ranked on this and other indices of patent law firms, the criterion for notability under Wikipedia:Notability (companies and corporations) appear to be met.
