Limp Bizkit not nu metal
[edit]Limp Bizkit are absolutely not nu metal. They're a rap band with some guitar riffs. All they do is rap, metal music has never been based on rap vocal style. Take away the guitar riffs from LB and what are you left with? A straight up rap song that just happens to use a real drum kit throwing in a bunch of cymbal splashes. The drumming isn't metal based, it's entirely rap beats, the singing is 100% rap, the DJ scratching etc are all rap. All LB did was add some guitar riffs to rap. That makes them rap as a genre not metal. Nu metal is metal music with various other INFLUENCES. When a bands entire style is grounded on rap, like LBs is, then they're not any form of metal music.

- We go by what reliable sources say on Wikipedia, and there's a ton of sources that call them nu metal. Sergecross73 msg me 11:52, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Consideration for the Nu Metal A-Z List...
[edit]To be a part of the link section at the bottom (I messed up the link the first time around because apparently I can't copy & paste accurately lol), as it is the deepest index of bands in the genre on the internet (as well as being regularly updated) and might help keep people from constantly trying to re-write and/or over-stuff the "List of Nu Metal bands" page and continue making it messier. You can check it here for approval. Just a thought I figured I would toss out there in an attempt to create less headaches for this genre wiki instead of more in future. Feel free to ignore if this isn't the right sort of thing you all are looking to have attached. I am not the most well versed with Wikipedia, but I do love coming to the site for the vast info. Where to put aggro?
[edit]The redirect page aggro metal was recently changed from nu metal to Heavy metal genres by FMSky. I changed it back.
I have seen "aggro metal" in various sources talking about nu metal bands and music. MasterClass says that aggro metal is another name for nu metal.
The AllMusic page about Alternative metal mentions rap metal, nu metal, and aggro metal, but it does not make a distinction between them. The page is not signed, so one assumes it was written by staff members, but really? I don't like this page because it causes more confusion.
Metal music critic Doug Van Pelt wrote in 2004 that nu metal and aggro and X-music are synonymous.
Billboard wrote in 2000 that the Canadian band Kittie was "new aggro metal". At the Kittie page down in the musical analysis section you can see that the nu metal genre has the most citations.
The 2002 book Guitar World Presents the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time! says on page 5 that Korn appeals to aggro-metal fans. Of course Korn is nu metal.
The Staind song "Mudshovel" is definitely nu metal. Spin magazine said that the song, "with its aggro guitar windmills, half-spoken choruses, and simmering bass line, is straight-up nu-metal."
Anybody see sources that place aggro somewhere else? Binksternet (talk) 22:33, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- OK then, I've never seen it used as a synoynm for nu metal but apparently it seems to be one. And another reason why you should never trust AI, I asked ChatGPT and it said aggro metal refers to "various extreme metal genres". Since I didn't immediately find a source linking it to nu metal I changed it to the more general "list of heavy metal genres" --FMSky (talk) 03:59, 16 October 2025 (UTC)
