Isn't this a circular definition?

This tells me absolutely nothing.

This whole area reeks of financial jargon - the definition given in this article re: notional value is almost completely useless. A "notion" in regular english means something like a vague idea not quite a concept. So one would expect that the word was used in order to refer to the regular meaning - and use it in some metaphorical sense. So if someone knows what "notional" value is and could refer it to some meaning outside of the world of finance - so that we could understand it it would be appreciated.` —Preceding unsigned comment added by Canuckistani (talk • contribs) 04:04, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Not forex

In Section Samples / Foreign Currency should not we only refer to Options? Based on the definition at the beginning of the article it using notional Amount for fx forward does not seem right since the payed and received amounts are actually exchanged in an fx forward trades. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.119.212.100 (talk) 13:00, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
