Etymology belongs in etymology section, not lead

[edit]

The sentence on etymology at the beginning of the article should be removed (I tried and do not want to engage in an edit war), the information is already in the etymology section and should be formatted to be consistent with the MOS guidance on linguistic glosses: MOS:SINGLE.

@~2025-37843-14 @~2025-37785-83 @~2025-37748-37, if you disagree, then please discuss. MossOnALogTalk 17:09, 2 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

How does that bother you? ~2025-38105-68 (talk) 18:58, 2 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's not an issue of my opinion or what bothers me, it's an issue regarding consistency with other taxonomic articles and conformity to the MOS on formatting and recommendations on flow of article content. MossOnALogTalk 19:05, 2 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Please contribute to the discussion to arrive at a consensus before making further edits per the Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle. MossOnALogTalk 14:55, 4 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
I am going to interpret the lack of response as consensus to stick with the etymology information not being in the first sentence as well as formatting any information to be consistent with the manual of style (MOS:WAW and MOS:SINGLE). MossOnALogTalk 16:10, 9 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
