Name/title of this article

There has been a dispute over the naming of this article in recent months. I have been pushing for it to be at Northern League (football) which has the correct name and a standard identifier for a disambiguating term, while User:Daddy Kindsoul wishes it to be at Northern Football League to match all other football league articles, despite this league never having the word "football" in it's title. Any thoughts? - fchd 04:54, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Sorry just seen this message now. It should of course be at Northern League (football) as there is no such entity as the Northern Football League. User Daddy Kinsoul is incorrect as there is also Central League (football). Furthermore as a result of having it incorrectly named, we even have to put a disambig on the article to distinguish it from the Australian league of the same name which is a farcical situation! Criteria for promotion to Northern Premier League Division One

Famous Players?

Wouldn't it be worthwhile having a section on famous players who have played in the Northern League? I think there are quite a few, Chris Waddle, Steve Howey, I know there must be quite a few more. Gavinio (talk) 01:19, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

History

I've edited the history as there were some inaccuracies - there weren't that many clubs that defected to neighbouring leagues, and the Northern Premier League First Division was not at level 9 (it was then at level 7 and is now level 8). I've added more detail about the rarity of clubs moving up, until the last few seasons. Ox Melissa (talk) 18:26, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
