The first link you've provided equates "Marshall Islands Nitijela" to "(parliament building)", though I see that the Marshall Islands government uses Nitijela to refer to its legislative body. Nitijeļā as a common name should be "determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources". • Reliable English-language sources would be helpful in determining if this term is the WP:COMMONNAME in English. For what it's worth, both examples presented so far by other participants in this RM refer to it as "Nitijela", without the diacritics, so even if the term is the common name in English, I don't think using diacritics in the name would be appropriate unless further evidence is presented of the diacritics also being used in English-language sources. • Support without diacritics, having reviewed sources on the fire, most use this name. It is also way more concise than the current title (though potentially less recognisable). • Support without diacritics. The only newspaper in the Marshall Islands, the Marshall Islands Journal refers to it as "Nitijela" in both headlines and article text:
  • "The new tax law that was approved recently by Nitijela will not go into force for at least four-to-five months from now."
  • "Nitijela wants 'Four Atoll' investigation"
  • "On Nitijela’s first business session Tuesday August 6, illicit drugs and mental health issues were the subject of debate."

• Support Nitijela per above, particularly the secondary independent sources, this seems to be the proper name for the parliament over the current descriptive name. The official website and the constitution omits the diacritics, so not sure why we should include them here if they don't themselves. Of these names, only the non-diacritic one is recorded in Ngrams, so the non-diacritic version is likely more common in English. Only found this source using the diacritics compared to these not., and this one on the recent fire (although some sources on the fire muddled the parliament and the building). As well as this being described as a "parliament" specifically rather than a "legislature"? (so the current really doesn't make sense) DankJae 23:13, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

Fire as its own article

Hey! I was considering writing an article of its own about the Nitijela fire but thought I should ask opinions on it here first. Granted, the artickle wouldn't be long, likely very similar to the chapter in the article at the moment. However, I would argue that the fire was a significant event in the country's history and therefore should have its own article. And as the new parliament building is being built and eventually inaugurated, writings about these events would better fit into a separate article. Thoughts/ comments?
