Nipani → Nippani – Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. You don't need to add your signature at the end, as this template will do so automatically. Parzee (talk) 16:02, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Nipani is a colonial term and a mis-pronounciation.
It is high-time, English Wikipedia too uses the word right Nippani.

Nipani → Nippani – as per above rataionale given by user:Gangasoonu and actual name of City, requesting rename --~aanzx · ✉ · © 02:47, 1 January 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. Reading Beans, Duke of Rivia 10:15, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- Comment, Ngrams does still have Nipani ahead (assuming both names are primary to this article). Not sure why GT when combining the two terms leads to Nippani being much lower. However in the past year there have been 51 Nipani articles and 391 Nippani articles on Google News. We don't follow official use but common use by independent not gov-affiliated sources. However, per MOS:TIES (and Talk:Bengaluru) then the name commonly used in Indian English, not English internationally, should be prioritised. Stuggled to find clear evidence pointing either way. Regardless of the outcome of this RM, the alt spelling should be mentioned in the lead secondarily. DankJae 19:23, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Cleaned up some grammar
[edit]I made some grammar changes to the business section. I tried my best to maintain all the necessary information. Double check it to make sure it's all accurate DominicusGallicus (talk) 23:06, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
Requested copy edit completed
[edit]Editors who may have worked on this article and others interested: I've just completed the requested copy edit of the article that was made to the Guild of Copy Editors awhile back. Please be aware that when we work on requested copy edits, it is not expected that we check facts or references … unless we choose to.
Here are some of the main things I'd like to bring to your attention about what I did in the copy edit.
1. I think you'll find that contrary to what the article says, the city of Nippani is located in its own eponymous Nippani Taluk within the Belagavi (formerly Belgaum) district of Karnataka. Though historically it was part of the neighboring Chikodi Taluk, Nippani was later officially constituted as an independent taluk by the Karnataka state government. This needs to be looked into and mentioned in the lead, along with a supporting reference.
2. I had to add many clarification-needed tags because often a statement was just not clear, even though I was able to decipher a number of such statements.
3. I also had to add quite a few citation-needed tags because many statements were in need of support.
4. I'd strongly suggest that future edits should have an editor with native-level English ability so as to avoid many of the things that needed to be done in this round of copy editing.
5. Several of the sections need more immediate work, including Business, Education, and—in particular—Tourist attractions.
6. Although I've highlighted the distinction between the city and the taluk of Nippani in the lead of the article to make readers aware of it from the outset, more of that needs to be done throughout the article for readers to understand when the discussion moves more toward Nippani Taluk than the city.
7. I converted many of the distances that had been given only in km to miles, placing the two measures side by side.
I'll be happy to engage in discussion about anything else I did with the article, if you ask here on this page. Augnablik (talk) 18:46, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
