Ninux (or Ninux.org) is one of the top five wireless community networks in the world, one of the oldest since 2002, and one of the first implementing IPv6 in Italy. It covers all Italy, has contributed open source tools, and contributes actively to global events such as the Battlemesh, the Wireless Summit, or the Open Spectrum Alliance. There are published academic studies about it topology and characteristics, and is part of the global Community-Lab testbed for community networking.

Several references from academic publications and other diverse sources added. Notability tag removed as I understand the article is now in line with notability guidelines.
