No reliable news sources have covered whether the Switch 2 is part of the ninth generation; therefore, we can’t add it to the article. 2K, one of the top 10 game publishers, refers to Switch 2 as a 9th gen console. Their FAQ states that NBA 2K27 is not available for 8th gen consoles, but is available for Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox series.

Correction

There is an actual term for this kind of card, Game-Key Card. This isn't something that should be put in quotes, it's the actual name of the product. ~2026-27261-37 (talk) 17:01, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Not fixed: The use of quotes to describe it in the lead is acceptable since it's not a common or colloquial term. It is referred to more in-depth in the body, and the use of quotes to refer to its proper name in the body after having described its function is also an acceptable form of grammar.
