Notability?
[edit]@Fakescientist8000 I checked Google Scholar and came up with a couple reliable sources
https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/full/10.1098/rsos.241599 (not loading for me right now, but it's also on ChemRXiv)
https://www.mediterranea-comunicacion.org/article/view/25481
https://ir.uitm.edu.my/id/eprint/81220/1/81220.pdf
None of these covered NileRed for particularly long, but I'd say they all go beyond trivial at least.
As far as the sources already in the article:
The Michigan Daily and The Saratoga Falcon are both student newspapers, college and high school respectively. The Michigan Daily might be reliable enough? NYT and ScienceLink both seem to be just interviews. Chemistry World, Woodworking Network, and The Streamy Awards only have trivial coverage of NileRed.
That leaves Hackaday, The A.V. Club, and Newsweek articles as the sources that do contribute to notability, which should be enough if combined with the scholarly sources. Based5290 :3 (talk) 16:59, 5 May 2025 (UTC)

Change the photo?
[edit]Hi! Just writing here and wondering maybe we should change back to a more clearer image of Nigel? Like the current photo only shows his back, we barely even see his face. Anyone disagreeing? Nike-in-Creator (talk) 21:26, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- I believe that this is the only picture of Nigel with a free license on the internet, so it is the best image that can possibly be used in the article. If you find another image suitable for use on Wikipedia, feel free to add it. - dwarfroe (talk / contr) 22:23, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- I have uploaded two photos of NileRed to WikiMedia. Please feel free to use either one if you would like. Both are CC-BY-4.0. LoganRickert (talk) 14:46, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
