Could the gender of this quote be corrected to she/her (Anttonen is a woman)? "One year later in 2016, a student at the University of Eastern Finland named Salli Anttonen conducted a study called "Hypocritical Bullshit Performed Through Gritted Teeth: Authenticity Discourses in Nickelback’s Album Reviews in Finnish Media" in an attempt to ascertain the root cause of the band's negative feedback. She concluded that the most prevalent trend in the "hate" was perceived lack of authenticity. She said: "Nickelback is too much of everything to be enough of something. They follow genre expectations too well, which is seen as empty imitation." ~2026-23466-43 (talk) 13:12, 16 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

BuzzFeed

[edit]

I read that BuzzFeed article about Nickelback being "feminist" and I'm pretty sure that the website is just taking the piss out of the band, so it's not really a good source to describe their lyrical style.

Also it's BuzzFeed, and who actually goes to BuzzFeed for reliable information? Gitzferald1798 (talk) 14:05, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The only reason I brought it up was because it's pretty obvious that the author is making fun of the band rather than actually describing their lyrics seriously.
The criticism of the band isn't my problem, it's just I don't think that this article is good for explaining the group's lyricism to the reader. Gitzferald1798 (talk) 22:18, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
