Thanks for reviewing this! I may have limited time for this due to a simultaneous GANR at Malta, but I think I’ll have time. Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 00:24, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yo @Wikipedian12512: my comments are below! Ping me when you get a chance to make updates or if you have any questions. Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 03:49, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Jishara: I think I’ve gone through your comments. I’m always so surprised as to how easy short articles are after the behemoth I’m working on, especially with a good reviewer, like you or Generalissima. Going to turn in for the night, though I hope to finish tomorrow! Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:47, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose, spelling, grammar, and understandability): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, lists, and tables):
Layout is a bit confusing - this paragraph "It was found in 2010 by Bhaumik, who named it dihangensis after the place it was discovered, the Dihang-Dibang Biosphere Reserve. It was found alongside Neottia confusa.[2]" in particular probably shouldn't be in the description section. Also, who is Bhaumik? As for prose, " It was found in a group of 6 to 10 in the Dihang-Dibang Biosphere Reserve, giving it the name dihangensis." this implies that it being in a group of 6 to 10 was relevant to its name, which doesn't appear to be the case.
All fair points. I think I’ve fixed it. Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:17, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also, Bhaumik is the guy who discovered it. Generally, last name is used for this thing, so that’s what I’ve done. (Plus, I don’t know the first name). Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:23, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
the way it's written it gives no context as to who he is or what he does - do we know his professional title or what organization he was working for? Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 04:26, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think it'd work better being kept in with a title or organizational affiliation if we have that? of course that depends though. Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 04:27, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Did a bit of searching and found this: https://bsi.gov.in/bg-scientist-profile/en?rcu=140. Think it’s the best I can do. Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:29, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
That's actually perfect - could you add in the discovery a mention that it was discovered by that guy with his name and workplace? Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 04:33, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Done. Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:33, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Great! The source is also a bare link, though - could you add title, publisher, access date? Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 04:34, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Automatic convert isn’t working. Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:45, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable, as shown by a source spot-check.
a (reference section): b (inline citations to reliable sources): c (OR): d (copyvio and plagiarism):
Firstly, link 1 is wrong - it goes to Neottia Confusa - this is the link for dihangensis. As that's the case, I'd ask you to update all your information in that and confirm that it's now supported by this link before I spotcheck. Reference section has some formatting errors, especially in third and fourth reference in the title and publisher boxes. ILCs are present but as mentioned the wrong link leaves that questionable. No copyvio signs.
Welp, I’m an idiot. I did a basic skeleton copied from Confusa, which was my first GA, and forgot to change that part. Think I got it though, but it’ll still probably pop back up :). Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:05, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good, ill check back thru that in a little bit. In the meantime can you work your way through the rest of my comments? Cheers, Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 04:08, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Gotcha. Thanks! Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:09, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Jishara: I’m really bad at references (I just feed a link in unless I’m using a book). Could you explain the formatting errors? Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:14, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
3's site is in the form of a link and not the name, and the name is also in title. 4's location is Plants of the World and not Kew Science (but i'm not actually sure about name of the site, so that might be right), and both Plants of the world and Kew Science is in the title where it shouldn't be. The first cite is now just a link without any of the detailing (access date, site name, publication date, title, etc). Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 04:30, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
POWO is part of Kew. I’ll work on the others and ping when I’m done. Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:34, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Jishara: Is it possible for you to fix the ref problems? It turns out I am absolutely terrible with these, and you know what to do better than me. Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:44, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
sounds good, i got you on that. after this the last few things should be the flowering in July and then my followup spotcheck. Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 04:54, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
Very few citations, but it does seem to cover some major aspects. I'm left with some questions though - among others, when does it flower, what soil does it prefer, what sort of water schedule does it usually get, what eats it, does anything special pollinate it, etc. I know not all of that will be out there, but could you take a look and try to find this stuff?
Unfortunately, there’s very little to say. The flowering was already mentioned, but not much I can add for something with only four pages of results, of which only one is relevant. Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:13, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Makes sense, and that's a bit of a shame but won't be a GA problem if there's nothing there - would you be able to add a bit more from the edinburgh paper, though? for example that it has flowers in July. Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 04:16, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I’m pretty sure it’s there. Should I move it to description? (Btw, the flowering bit means “we have only seen it in July, and it was flowering then”, not “it flowers in July”). Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:19, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'd move the flowering in july into Description - and i'm aware it means it was flowering when seen in July, but that's still relevant, sourced information. Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 04:32, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
Neutral about this flower, doesn't seem to be a fan or a hater.
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
No signs of instability or other potential problems here/
  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have non-free use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions and alt text):
No images -I'd ask if you happen to be able to find any public domain images of this orchid?
Tried and failed a while ago and now. Cheers, In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 04:21, 4 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
