Addressing COI
[edit]I am not affiliated with Neophyte in any way, and hopefully the edits I made have made and the sources I have added have made it a little more clear, because Neophyte's influence on the hardcore scene was SO big it's impossible to talk about it without it sounding at least a little bit like an ad-read. I get that. But fact of the matter is, he WAS that important to the scene. And when you check sites like Partyflock that becomes very apparent. His dominance in the genre is hard to "move around."
He and DJ Paul Elstak were the single most important artists in all of hardcore, with a gigantic margin between them and any other artist in terms of influence and cultural impact. Nonetheless this is NOT a promotional article and it is properly sourced. I cannot state this enough, I am not associated with Neophyte or Neophyte records, I'm simply a longtime listener of the genre who was met with surprise at how few of these major artists and labels have English-language wiki pages! I have also written the page on State of Anarchy and done edits on Mokum Records and other Dutch hardcore artists, and am planning on working on translations from the Dutch Tha Playah article for example. It is a niche genre from a small country, so it is hard to find secondary sources, but these are noteworthy events and people, often racking up millions of streams and playing at major events known the world over (like Defqon), so they merit a wiki page. It's a very weird blend of niche and popular; so I get how it can easily seem too inundated with primary source material, but this was not done with an intent to advertise or promote.
Not gonna lie, it was a little frustrating to spend so much time and effort into making a wiki page for something I'm personally passionate about just to get accused of promo, I would have had no problem had someone simply edited the parts they felt were too "commercially worded" or whatever, but instead I got booted off the main page. I hope that in the future editors can ameliorate the parts of my speech they felt was too commercial, I am absolutely open to that!!
