Updating this page

[edit]

Hi. I am disclosing that I work for Neighbor and have a COI with this article. In accordance with Wikipedia’s conflict of interest guidelines, I am not editing the article directly. I have prepared a draft rewrite in my user sandbox here.

The current article is out of date and missing several developments covered by independent sources like including major funding rounds and the company’s expansion to include traditional self-storage operators.

The sandbox draft proposes:

- Updated sourcing using independent, reliable secondary sources

- A revised article structure (lead, history, platform, recognition) consistent with Wikipedia style

- Neutral wording and attribution

- Clarification of Neighbor’s evolution to include commercial self-storage operators in addition to residential hosts

I am posting this draft for review by uninvolved editors and would appreciate any feedback or assistance with implementing appropriate portions of the draft into the live article. I am happy to make revisions in response to policy or sourcing concerns. Cschow21 (talk) 18:41, 20 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

  Unable to implement

  • Your edit request could not be implemented because the provided references in your draft were not formatted correctly. The citation style predominantly used by the Neighbor article is Citation Style 1 (CS1). The citation style used in the edit request consists of bare URL's.[a] Any requested edit of yours which may be implemented will need to resemble the current style already in use in the article – in this case, CS1. (See WP:CITEVAR.) In the extended section below titled Citation style, I have illustrated two examples: one showing how the edit request was submitted, and another showing how requests should be submitted in the future:
  • Kindly resubmit the edit request below at your earliest convenience, taking care to ensure that it makes use of CS1. If you have any questions about this formatting please don't hesitate to ask myself or another editor.

Notes

  1. The use of bare URLs as references is a style which is acceptable for use in Wikipedia. However, general practice dictates that the style already in use for an article be the one that is subsequently used for all future additions unless changed by editorial consensus.[1]

References

  1. "WP:CITEVAR - Wikipedia:Citing sources". Wikipedia. 20 October 2018. Retrieved 22 October 2018. Guideline: It is normal practice to defer to the style used by the first major contributor or adopted by the consensus of editors already working on the page, unless a change in consensus has been achieved. If the article you are editing is already using a particular citation style, you should follow it.

Edit request

[edit]

Thank you for the guidance. I have revised the draft in my sandbox so that the references now use Citation Style 1, as requested. The updated draft is available in my sandbox. I'm resubmitting the edit request and asking that an editor review the updated sandbox draft and consider replacing the current article text with the revised draft in my sandbox. The sandbox contains the proposed article text in full, including the lead, infobox, History, Platform, Recognition, and References sections, with citations using CS1 templates. I'm happy to make any additional revisions if there are concerns about sourcing, neutrality, or formatting. Thank you again for your help. Thank you for addressing the formatting of the references, it's much appreciated. I've noticed that the proposed text uses WP:TECHCRUNCH, WP:CRUNCHBASE and WP:PRNEWSWIRE as references. I would suggest using alternate sources for those claims. Since Modern Storage Media (MSM) in connected to the storage industry, they are not neutral in their reporting, and thus replacements should be sought for anything they reference, especially anything mentioning "expansion" or "growth". The recognition section also needs to be removed, as none of the distinctions mentioned there are independently notable in Wikipedia. When ready to proceed, kindly change the {{Edit COI}} template's answer parameter to read from |ans=y to |ans=n. Thank you! Regards,  Spintendo  11:15, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
