This article repeats numerous claims that Martin holds the record for "fastest marathon by an American-born black man". While this is also reported in several sources, none of them provide any traceable context. It doesn't seem to be an official record of any kind, and while "American-born" is fairly definitive as a category, I don't think the same can be said about Black (or any other racial category).
