Double-Loop Stream or not?

We say, “… extended double loop tidal stream coiling around the galaxy. The existence of part of these tidal streams has been recently challenged by some deeper surveys, which show only a single knee-shaped stream …” Yet our intro pic clearly shows a double loop, with no equivocation in its label.

Is the later research wrong? Or is the picture very misleading? What is a reader to make of the contradiction we have constructed? Jmacwiki (talk) 04:38, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Only dwarf stars?

This galaxy has had not 1 but 2 supernovae recorded, both of them of type-II, the hallmark of massive-star core collapse. Yet we say the galaxy is “apparently composed almost entirely of dwarf stars” (in a paper from 1998).

Then where did the supernovae come from, I wonder?

This does readers no favors. Has anybody updated that old paper? Can some editor with the right background either fix the paradox or explain to readers how they should weigh the conflicting information? Jmacwiki (talk) 04:54, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

That paper said this galaxy's stellar halo may be composed almost of dwarf stars.
They said more than 100 giant stars are expected in galactic halo but the observation by using Hubble data revealed that there is only one giant star. This discrepancy can be explained if this galaxy located further away than they expected, or halo metallicity is lower than they expected, or much higher ratio of dwarfs to giants. テレポア (talk) 05:27, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
