On the Linguistic Shift of Mutual Aid Towards Being a Begging Euphemism
[edit]I had noticed as a layperson with a long time editing interest in Wikipedia that there has been a shift towards mutual aid meaning, essentially, requesting charity, and found a sizeable literature which confirms that such a transformation has indeed happened. I added it in this revision of the page, providing citations to many of these works. My understanding is that well-sourced material is generally not be summarily deleted in edits due to disagreement. As such, I am trying again to see if we can get some consensus as to what would be appropriate to add to this article to discuss this "in practice" use of the term.
Should I get no responses in the next 14 days, I will treat it as silence is weak consensus and will go ahead and re-add. DemocraticLuntz (talk) 17:00, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
