I would like to see a taxonomy of multi-swarm systems developed for this page (and research on multi-swarm systems in general). In the paper "Selection Strategies for Initial Positions and Initial Velocities in Multi–optima Particle Swarms", we introduced three design criteria -- the number of swarms and/or the stopping condition for each swarm, the selection mechanism for initial positions of sub-swarms, and the selection mechanism for initial velocities of sub-swarms. Omitted from this set of criteria was whether or not the swarms were operated sequentially (like locust swarms), in parallel (like DMS-PSO), or in some partial combination (like WoSP). Surely there are also more criteria to consider.
