I agree. I just read the novel, and the description here seems to be describing some a version of the book from an alternative universe, roughly similar but different in the details. Audio Review

The original link to the Audio review was to "Antarctica" by Kim Stanley Robinson so I corrected it using the same reviewer but correct review. From scratch, I would not have recommended this review myself as the reviewer spends the first quarter of the review plugging his own upcoming science fiction book!
