I was told by my friend that Bradford Washborn was not able to reach the peak of the mountain. In fact it was his father who was the first to reach the peak. I'm not totally sure if this is true or not and all the searches I've done haven't turned up anything. If anyone has any information about it could you post it? My friends father is named Jim Mickelson if that is any help.

My source for the first ascent by Washburn et al. is Alaska: a climbing guide, as listed on the page. I have no reason to doubt this source: it is a carefully researched guide by experts, and is based on the American Alpine Journal, the journal of record for American mountaineering. Also, a search of the AAJ Index gives no "Mickelson". -- Spireguy 03:26, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
