Article split or rename?

After finding a reference to Mount Painter with no article nor redirect, and not having the time to create a new article at that point, I created a redirect to this article as Mt Painter was mentioned in it and it is geographically close. Since then I have come across a lot more info about Mt Painter, which has an early history of lots of mining, and as you can see, Mount Gee has a later history of mining. I should stress that I have not done extensive research into either, as I am currently focused on Douglas Mawson, but it has bothered me as Mt Painter content has grown to almost outstrip Gee. Then thought that creating a new article for Painter should go onto my to-do list, but I now have reservations about it as neither is notable as a mountain peak apart from their geological composition and thus significance. This site says "The Mt Painter uranium deposit is sometimes confused with the nearby Mt Gee deposit... In general it is best to think of the region as a series of small deposits known as Mt Painter. The Mt Gee − Mt Painter mineralisation is also the source of uranium in the palaeochannels around Beverley, a few kilometres east". Googling "mount painter south australia geology" will give you some idea of how they are described - with frequent references to the "Mount Painter inlier" or "Mount Painter province". So... I would appreciate input from editors who may be better versed in place names, geology, history, or anything else relevant to this article, to opine as to whether we should have two articles with overlapping information, or to rename this one as "Mount Gee - Mount Painter", or any other suggestions. Either way, there's definitely room for expansion and improvement, that I don't have time for right now, but it would be good to have a consensus decision on how to tackle this one. When I search for Mount Painter, I get Mount Painter (ACT) and Mount Painter Volcanics (on same hill). But the one in SA looks to have enough material online to have its own separate article. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:29, 25 August 2025 (UTC)

Yeah, this stuff is never easy, but right now, you have made an article on Mount Gee, so I'd leave it be until someone seriously objects to it. Kerry (talk) 00:26, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
