Feedback from New Page Review process
[edit]I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: It does seems that this term has escaped the confines of Walker I's academic work, and made it to the mainstream media, over the span of more than a year in different sources. So, it seems reasonable to have a distinct page, despite the ugliness of the neologism. I do wonder whether Walker P and Walker I are independent of one another ... regardless, there are other sources.

Motonormativity → ? – I don't believe that Motonormativity is the WP:COMMONNAME for this phenomenon. I saw comments at AFD suggesting these other primary names for this topic.

- C. Windshield bias
- D. Other option

- I've never heard someone say "Motonormativity" IRL. Professionally, we would say "windshield bias". Personally we would say "car brain". I think either is better than Motonormativity. ~~~ Joiedevivre123321 (talk) 16:41, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

- To repeat the Google Books Ngrams statistic from AfD, some of these terms never seemed to appear in books, which is a bit odd. Not immediately disqualifying, but problematic, as it implies a bit too much WP:recentism. If we look at Google Search trends, it seems all the terms have been comparable up until a recent spike in interest last summer, after which point searches for car culture exploded, and car brain definitely seems to stand out as the one most comparable to the more generic car culture.
- So I think it's safe to choose car brain even if it's WP:POVTITLE.
- A followup discussion on whether to make a more generic article on car culture would make sense, too. --Joy (talk) 10:31, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose all as either POVTITLE or being a neologism. I think if this page is to be moved, we need a descriptive title, like Automobile-focused thinking Red Slash 18:21, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- I understand your thinking but we need something that reflects the common name of this idea. If people are saying "car brain" then that is what it is called. Guz13 (talk) 19:19, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- The one example similar to this that I could quickly find is "brain rot", which is quite a bit more pejorative. I'm sure we can all think of a descriptive title for that, and that it's probably possible to find some replacement terms in sources, but if the most common term is that, we're not really being particularly edgy if we use it. --Joy (talk) 11:18, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
