Future expansion focus

I would like to summarise for future editors ways in which this article may be expanded. Currently the article is around 50,000 bytes I think, the butterfly article is double that at 100,000.

The following key points are missing:

- The diet, and variance of which, of the caterpillars of moths

- The variance in places a female may choose to lay her eggs by species

- The evolutionary history of moths AND their role in on early theories of evolution (moths and butterflys were used to study genetic variation) Chattenoir (talk) 15:50, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

Spelling changes

In edit editor @SchreiberBike set the language to British english without comment or discussion. Was that appropriate per WP:RETAIN? Johnjbarton (talk) 22:34, 27 March 2026 (UTC)

I did not do a thorough check, but it seemed to me there was more in British English than American English and we need to settle on one. I have no objection to either, but the mixed use that was there is not good. I also have not finished fixing the mixed use and while this is under discussion I will not. SchreiberBike | ⌨  22:38, 27 March 2026 (UTC)

Thanks. The oldest versions had no preference words. Your edit included 5 changes from American -> British, only one which would be needed for Oxford. I used the WP:EngvarB tool and counted changes manually

• American 19 changes - 5 = 14
• British 8 changes + 5 = 13
• Oxford 11 + 1 = 12

These are all similar, so we basically don't have any guidance. I would go for Oxford, but if you feel strongly for British let me know. Johnjbarton (talk) 23:50, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
