Academic Reputation

[edit]

I expanded a little on the final remark in this section, for the sake of precision. ("Support for the war seriously damaged its reputation") I do not doubt that support for Putin's war against Ukraine damaged the university's reputation, in the West at least, but not necessarily its academic reputation. The Yale writer's critical article that was cited actually refers to unfairness and cronyism in connection with admission and degrees, which is indeed relevant to academic reputation, so I have reflected that in the rewording.

International Partnerships

[edit]

The section "Academic Reputation" originally made reference, somewhat irrelevantly, to three international co-operations. I have spun them out into a new section, "International Partnerships", and added historical detail on this; the original was misleading in implying that they were all still subsisting, whereas the reality is considerably more complicated. I dug up quite a bit of detail on this from the Russian sources, but it was too much for an article of this kind, so I tried to keep it short.

Having said that, additional material on examples of other international partnerships (e.g. with China?) would be appreciated.

Incidentally, I couldn't find any sources supporting the claim, "The University houses the UNESCO International Demography Courses and Hydrology Courses". Maybe someone with inside knowledge can help? (It may be historical, for example). Northtowner (talk) 23:20, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
