New infobox photo?

Since this is a high traffic article I will put this here first before making any changes. This page deserves a newer photo since the current infobox photo is almost 20 years old.

2005 - Current photo

2023 - Proposed newer photo

A newer photo is available and using such better represents the current appearance of the person in question. PascalHD (talk) 06:21, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Support The current photo is far too old, and while his appearance hasn't drastically changed (mainly gray hair and wrinkles), the 2023 photo presents him as how he currently looks. Dantus21 (talk) 23:55, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Francis is most probably his confirmation name – it has not been included on any of the official documents that have surfaced online 145.14.45.14 (talk) 10:55, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

Add distinctive singing traits?

My apologies for editing this high traffic page without discussion! I’m new and learning the etiquette.

I think Morrissey’s distinctive singing style is noteworthy, please see the edit I made today, In hindsight I would also add phrasing to the list.

The singingcarots one isn't a reliable source. The NME one would be fine if it's coupled with a few others stating the same, else it's journalistic opinion. Seasider53 (talk) 13:56, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

Julian Stringer?

Reading over this article, I noticed that an academic by the name of Julian Stringer is mentioned 8 times throughout in various sections. His relevance to Morrissey is never clarified and he is only credited with one academic article in the references section.

I don't have an issue with citing him, but I feel that he may be overly cited - especially when Stringer's quoted sections span a wide enough breadth of topics (Lyricism, Morrissey's personality, The Smiths' political leanings) that there could be other sources to rely on.

Ultimately I was just surprised at seeing a *seemingly* random academic's name mentioned more often than some people relevant to Morrissey himself. Am I missing something about Stringer that is of particular importance to this article? Lukewarm-flapjack (talk) 18:33, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
