The 2001 "toponymy" publication should probably just be ignored. Their "source" is "after Gatschet" (no year, title, or page number; presumably 1867?), but they don't say if Gatschet derived Mormont from a "Celtic or Pre-Celtic" mor, or if they just invoke his mor which they apply to Mormont on their own responsibility. They fail to mention that the name is first recorded as Mauromonte, which also spells disaster for their mor suggestion. --dab (𒁳) 12:19, 26 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
