I'm afraid I'll have to agree with anon user there. I live in Richmond right now, and I've seen the bridge too. It doesn't swing/rotate, it retracts. -→Buchanan-Hermit™/?! 08:02, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Notice those huge bulk of structure in them middle of the bridge? (the one with arrow) Yeah suppose to protect the center column, but why it's so huge?

THAT is weird. Because I've seen it retract with my own two eyes before, more than once. As for the platform, I don't remember it even being connected to the bridge itself (as in being in a position to be used as a swinging mechanism). I would say the presence of a sacrificial pier prettymuch definitively proves that it is indeed a swing bridge. However, Jbrian80: drawbridge is actually an acceptable, if imprecise, term for all moveable bridges. --INTRIGUEBLUE (talk|contribs) 06:06, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
