Split Bach recordings into Live / studio

Do you think it might be helpful to split the Bach cantata recordings into Live / Studio? I understand that all of the cantatas were recorded live during the Cantata pilgrimage in one year (2000) but I wonder if earlier Bach cantata CDs are studio recordings. Will the cantatas recorded under Archiv be duplicated when all the recordings from the pilgrimage are released?--Cardinal Allen (talk) 11:23, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

- No, JEG has no rights over the four BCP discs which were released on Archiv and cannot issue them under SDG. In any case, the volume numbering on SDG is sequential beginning on Trinity Sunday (as Bach's cantata cycles did) and account for this. If they were issued as Vols 28-9 - as the next volumes outside the sequence, it would ruin the integrity of the cycle's ordering. They already have technical issues with the Salisbury tapes so the Ascension cantatas will be re-recorded and issued separately from the BCP series. The other recordings on Archiv are all studio (Cantatas 63, 64, 121, 133; 36, 61, 62; 140, 147; 16, 98, 139; 34, 59, 74, 172; 11, 37, 43, 128; 106, 118, 198; 6, 66) and not part of the BCP project, though I think the current table reflects this. For clarity, the following Archiv issued cantatas were BCP: 72, 73, 111, 156; 82, 83, 125, 200; 94, 105, 168; 113, 179, 199. Hope this helps. Chavster01 (talk) 16:44, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
