While the content of this article is relevant to the topic, it should mostly be a sub-section of the article as a whole. This article desperately needs an objective evaluation of the self-proclaimed reasons for establishing these institutions, particularly the differences between the Spanish Catholic and Indigenous sexual norms. Spain was a highly institutionalized, advanced empire and would not have permitted the establishment of these institutions for the ridiculously simplistic reasons given. There is no investigation into whether the Catholic church saw indigenous treatment of women as pedophilic, whether sexual slavery was common in indigenous California as it was in most pre-Christian societies, and the bulk of the article contains alleges of abuse without statistics, only anecdotes. This leaves the reader clueless as to what "christian education" or "christianization" was in this historical context. It's unclear if rape occurred to every women in these establishments or was extremely uncommon, and language is used to make it seem common without any statistics. ~2026-34721-79 (talk) 19:35, 12 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
