Proposed update to biography — conflict-of-interest disclosure

[edit]

I am writing on behalf of / in coordination with Mohammed Hanzab, the subject of this biography, and therefore have a conflict of interest. I am not asking to make promotional changes directly. Instead, I would appreciate review by an uninvolved editor of a proposed update to bring the article up to date and improve its sourcing and neutrality.

The present article still describes Mr Hanzab as President of the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS), while current ICSS governance material identifies him as Founder and Chairman. The article also focuses heavily on older ICSS memorandums and omits several later, verifiable appointments.

The proposed changes would: • update the ICSS role to Founder and Chairman; • present the early military/security career concisely; • add the 2014 UN ECOSOC appointment to the UNICRI Board of Trustees; • add Save the Dream and relevant United Nations programme work; • add the 2012 Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne partnership and Ethics and Security in Sport chair / applied research programme; • add the 2014 sponsored research collaboration with the Center for International Development at Harvard University / Harvard Kennedy School; • update the SIGA role, including the 2025 re-election as Vice-Chair representing Civil Society; • add membership of the International Anti-Corruption Academy’s International Senior Advisory Board; • add limited, well-sourced recognition where appropriate; and • substantially reduce the current catalogue of memorandums and promotional/institutional detail.

I have prepared neutral draft wording and sources, including United Nations, IACA and SIGA records, and I am happy for editors to revise, shorten or reject any part that does not meet Wikipedia’s policies on biographies of living persons, reliable sourcing, neutral point of view and due weight.

For transparency, I would also not object to properly sourced, proportionate critical coverage being retained or added where editors consider it directly relevant to the subject. The intention of this request is accuracy and currency, not removal of legitimate criticism.

Thank you for reviewing the proposed update.

Not done. You have not provided any sources to support your proposed changes. Please consider re-submitting your request with inline citations to reliable sources so that other editors may verify the information. Cheers,GentleHillRacer (talk) 08:05, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Edit request — four corrections with sources

[edit]

Resubmitting with sources, following the decline of my previous request. I am employed by the ICSS and post on behalf of the article subject. Paid disclosure is on my user page. I am not editing the article directly.

1. The lead and infobox describe Hanzab as President of the ICSS. The current ICSS leadership page lists him as Chairman. https://theicss.org/board-of-directors-and-leadership/

2. Please add: on 16 July 2014 the UN Economic and Social Council endorsed his appointment to the Board of Trustees of the UN Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute. He is named in the decision text. https://ecosoc.un.org/sites/default/files/documents/2023/dec.2014231.pdf

3. The sentence "In 2016, Hanzab launched the Sports Integrity Global Alliance" is inaccurate. The ICSS page above states he has held a SIGA vice-chairmanship since 2015, and he was re-elected Vice-Chairman for the 2025-2029 term. https://thepeninsulaqatar.com/article/10/08/2025/mohammed-hanzab-re-elected-siga-vice-chairman

4. Please add: in 2023 he was elected to the International Senior Advisory Board of the International Anti-Corruption Academy, where he is currently listed as a member. https://www.gulf-times.com/article/672573/qatar/international-anti-corruption-academy-elects-mohammed-hanzab-as-member-of-its-international-senior-advisory-board https://www.iaca.int/who-we-are/governance/international-senior-advisory-board.html

I recognise items 1 and 3 rest partly on the ICSS's own website, which is acceptable for uncontested facts about the organisation's own leadership but carries less weight than independent sourcing. Please shorten, reword or decline any item that does not meet policy. I am not requesting removal of the swissinfo.ch material currently cited. ~2026-48637-60 (talk) 08:20, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
