These articles are BOTH discussing the same stereotype. And, as has been written in numerous places (Time Magazine 'How the Model Minority Myth of Asian Americans Hurts Us All'; CNBC 'How the model minority myth holds Asian Americans back at work - and what companies should do'; NPR ' 'Model Minority' Myth Again Used as a Racial Wedge Between Asians and Blacks; USC Pacifica Asia Museum 'Debunking the Model Minority Myth'; National Cancer Institute ' 'Model Minority' Stereotype'; 'Unraveling the Model Minority Stereotype: Listening to Asian American Youth' by Stacy J. Lee, and even more dangerously described as the flip side of the coin of the money-mad Jew/Asian rendered seemingly positive (Transgressions of a Model Minority by Jonathan Freedman; etc); and the list goes on, it is being addressed in most of the current discourse as a stereotype that is harmful to everyone, whether the group described as such or an outside group, whether it has become a self-identifier or is externally applied. What is the point of having two articles on the same topic? Why not merge them both into one under the subsection of stereotypes? Model Minority Myth and Model Minority Stereotype are two names for the same thing. Why not merge the content and state them as name variations? Thoughts? Model minority myth is essentially a content POV fork with plenty of WP:SYNTH and coatracking. --Altenmann >talk 09:26, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Support merging any content that's usable and isn't duplicated. Given the somewhat essay-like POV nature of the "myth" article, it remains to be seen how much that actually is. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 🛸 04:23, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

Statistics: Update

Statistics should probably be updated to include African countries, as an extremely high percentage of immigrants from various countries in Africa hold a Bachelor's degree or higher and the chart does not include this. KnowTheManyHistories (talk) 02:22, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Ambiguous language found in article

I believed that the section here should be modified with additional sources and research to better prove the claim that it makes, so that it does not come off as downplaying or minimizing anti-Asian discrimination. I believe that the article should emphasize that this statement is only applicable in general.

"While scholars of the civil rights era relied on cultural values to describe the varying successes of Asian Americans and African Americans, contemporary scholars have begun to examine the effects of the different types of racism the two ethnic groups experience. Essentially, racism in itself is not monolithic. Instead, it is perpetrated in different ways and different avenues of life in which anti-Black rhetoric often proves to be more harmful to Black personhood than situations involving anti-Asian discrimination."

I also believe that this article should have been given a high importance rating, rather than "low importance" and "mid importance". ~2026-29422-32 (talk) 05:37, 16 May 2026 (UTC)
