Purpose of the article

This article should talk about mode setting in a generic way. Things like what is a mode (display resolution and bit depth, refresh rate, ...), how it is related to the video signal generation (horizontal and vertical synchronization, front porch, back porch, ...), how do you change it, etc. Most of that is plataform and device agnostic (it doesn't matter what operating system or graphics card are one using). Right now this article confuses mode setting with Kernel Mode Setting, which is the way that Linux operating system does mode setting nowadays. A long explanation of KMS is already included in Direct Rendering Manager#Kernel Mode Setting (where it belongs), so the contents here are essentially redundant and irrelevant. --JavierCantero (talk) 16:18, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
