Partition type?

It depends on the OS and the file system. Some systems may not even use MBR or GPT for partitioning, especially when they're not running on IBM PC compatible platforms. The system on which I'm running this doesn't even have a mkfs or newfs program, it has several newfs_fs-type programs, such as newfs_apfs, newfs_hfs, etc..
