MISUMI Group Inc. vs. MISUMI USA
[edit]I am from the marketing team at MISUMI Europe. Due to the conflict of interest, I will not edit the article myself. This is a suggestion for independent editors to evaluate.
The "Misumi Group Inc." article was merged in 2021 with the "MISUMI USA" article. In my opinion, it should have been the other way around. The "MISUMI Group" is an international company with Japanese headquaters. It has multiple subsidiaries such as MISUMI China, US, Europe, Mexico, Thailand, etc. Therefore it would make more sense to name the article "MISUMI Group Inc" instead of MISUMI USA.
For us in Europe, the issue is that users looking up MISUMI on in the english Wikipedia (e.g. form the UK) get the impression that MISUMI is a US based company.
Would it be possible to orient the title and the content of the page towards "MISUMI Group Inc."? If yes, I could propose changes of the content here.
Thank you very much in advance

Requested move (Misumi USA → Misumi Group Inc.) and content adjustment
[edit]Request: Move/retitle the current article "MISUMI USA" to "MISUMI Group Inc." (the Japanese parent company) and treat MISUMI USA as a subsidiary (either as a section within the main article or a separate sub-article).
Rationale: MISUMI Group Inc. is the publicly listed, global entity headquartered in Japan, with multiple subsidiaries (US, Europe, China, Mexico, Thailand, etc.). The current title may mislead readers into thinking MISUMI is primarily a US-based company.
Proposed changes: 1. Move the page title to "MISUMI Group Inc." (or recreate/restore that article as the main company page). 2. Keep "MISUMI USA" as a subsidiary section (or separate sub-article). 3. Update the lead and infobox to reflect the global parent company.

- Alright, so. The way that it was moved doing an AfD (Articles for Deletion), and the people within the discussion thought a merge was good. The main reason why it was created was as it failed Wikipedia:GNG, and felt promotional. I recommend opening a "requested move" so you can get more of a consensus, than rather a direct move, which may cause conflict. Research more about requested moves at Wikipedia:REQUESTEDMOVE. Thanks, Valorrr (lets chat) 14:09, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Misumi USA → Misumi Group Inc. – Per WP:AT and WP:NCCORP, the encyclopedic topic is the publicly listed, Japan-headquartered parent company with global operations and multiple subsidiaries (including MISUMI USA). The current title “MISUMI USA” implies a US-centric scope, whereas significant independent coverage concerns the wider multinational group. Per MOS:CAPS and MOS:TM, Wikipedia generally avoids stylized ALL-CAPS in titles; the brand is stylized as MISUMI and this can be noted in the lead and infobox.
Requested outcome:
- Move the article to “Misumi Group Inc.” as the parent-company topic.
- Treat MISUMI USA as a subsidiary section.
Indicative independent sources:
- The Japan Times (feature, 7 July 2025): https://www.japantimes.co.jp/2025/07/07/special-supplements/misumis-digital-push-transforms-machine-parts-sourcing/

If consensus prefers the common name “Misumi Group” per WP:COMMONNAME, that would also be acceptable. FabianE97 (talk) 13:11, 15 August 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 16:58, 22 August 2025 (UTC)

Misumi Group Inc. → Misumi USA –
Request:
Move the current article from Misumi Group Inc. back to Misumi USA, restoring the page’s original topic and scope as the United States subsidiary of Misumi Group Inc.
Rationale:
- Distinct entity: Misumi USA, Inc. is a registered U.S. subsidiary with its own leadership, facilities, and marketing operations, serving North American markets.
- Independent coverage: There are reliable, third-party sources that specifically cover Misumi USA and its role in U.S. manufacturing, business, and e-commerce. Examples include:
https://rejournals.com/nkf-facilitates-47000-sf-lease-for-misumi-usa-headquarters-in-schaumburg/
http://www.ceconnectinc.com/misumi-usa/
https://www.bloomberg.com/profile/company/0132778D:US
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/misumi-usa-engineers-revenue-growth-123000059.html
· 3. Precedent: Similar multinational corporations (e.g., American Honda Motor Company, Volkswagen Group of America, Toyota Motor North America) maintain separate subsidiary pages when they have notable operations in the U.S market.
Supporting policies
o [[WP:COMMONNAME]] – title should use the most common name in reliable English-language sources.
o [[WP:NCCORP]] – separate articles are appropriate when subsidiaries have significant independent coverage.
o [[WP:PRIMARYTOPIC]] – readers searching “Misumi USA” expect U.S.-specific content, not the Tokyo parent’s listing.
o [[WP:CONSISTENCY]] – similar multinational companies (e.g., “Toyota USA,” “Honda USA”) maintain separate pages where independent operations and coverage exist.
Proposed action:
Move the page title back to Misumi USA, and create a separate Misumi Group Inc. page to represent the Japan-based parent company. Both pages would include cross-links and a clear “Parent company” section within the Misumi USA article pointing to Misumi Group Inc. (Japan) for proper attribution and organizational hierarchy.
Disclosure:
I have a Conflict of Interest (COI) because I am affiliated with Misumi Group, I am therefore not editing the article directly but am submitting this request for independent editors to review.
-Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Oppose -- out of scope. Paid editor is proposing the creation of whole new "page" where one has not yet be written and submitted through AfC. I would suggest the editor either draft the article themselves and submit through AfC, see WP:Article Wizard and then propose the round robin move once completed and accepted so that there is an article to follow the (AI-written?) suggested "Proposed action" above, or they may make proposed changes to this article to further align with the scope as they wish above. But what they want to accomplish here cannot be completed whole cloth by an RM. Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 16:44, 28 October 2025 (UTC)You know what, procedural support in the limited extent that it would be better to exclude the Inc. per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (companies) § Integral suffixes and the previous stable name is in accordance with the proposed title as outline in the RM. But this article history is a mess and a corporate account name has removed the advert tag in the article history. Paid editors need to be cautioned about the extent of their involvement in their article. What a mess. I will be re-tagging the article. Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 16:58, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
